# Investigate KPI alerts with AI

> Use advertiser-group targets to interpret Analytics alerts, check missing-data states, and ask AI for an evidence-based diagnosis before making changes.

Performance alerts compare available results with targets configured in an advertiser group. Use an alert as a starting point for investigation, then review the underlying data and business context.

## Check the target first

Open **Monitor > Analytics** and select the intended group and date range. Confirm the group objective, KPI, target value, and unit. A target entered for a different business goal can make the alert unhelpful even when the data is correct.

## Read the alert state

| State | How to approach it |
| - | - |
| **ON TRACK** | Review the actual result against the target and period. |
| **AT RISK** or **OFF TRACK** | Investigate the size and cause of the gap before taking action. |
| **NOT TRACKED** | Check whether the connected sources provide this KPI. |
| **NO DATA** | Check the dates, group accounts, and connection access. |

Do not interpret a missing-data state as zero performance. The threshold that separates alert states is not a universal marketing rule.

## Ask for a diagnosis

Use **Diagnose with AI** when available, then review the chat's account scope. Add the question you need answered:

```text theme={null}
Investigate this KPI gap for the selected advertiser group and dates.
Confirm the actual value, target, unit, and data completeness.
Identify contributing platforms and campaigns, compare the preceding
equivalent period, and distinguish evidence from hypotheses.
Recommend next checks only. Do not change budgets or campaigns.
```

Check that the assistant addresses the same KPI and date range as the alert. For a cost metric, lower can be better; for a volume or return metric, the direction can differ. Review the underlying values rather than relying only on a status color.

Use a separate [reviewed proposal](https://docs.nerve.mattemena.com/campaign-management/review-changes.md) if you decide to make a campaign change.
