A difference between reports can come from scope, definitions, timing, or incomplete retrieval. Compare these details before assuming the data is wrong.

Compare like with like

  1. Account: confirm the same platform and account or property, including manager/client context.
  2. Dates: use identical start and end dates and check whether today is partial.
  3. Timezone: check the reporting boundary used by each source.
  4. Metric: compare the same conversion action, event, purchase definition, or result type.
  5. Attribution: inspect available attribution settings and reporting timing. Platform-reported results can be updated after the original report.
  6. Currency: keep local currencies separate unless a stated conversion method has been verified.
  7. Completeness: check failed sources, result limits, pagination, filters, and suppressed segments.

Missing is different from zero

A zero can be a valid measured result. A blank, dash, unavailable field, or failed request can mean the metric was not returned. Ask which applies rather than converting every missing value into zero.

Be careful with combined metrics

A sum of platform-reported conversions is not necessarily a count of unique customers. Reach across campaigns or platforms is not automatically deduplicated. Demographic reports can omit small segments, so their totals may differ from campaign totals. If a mismatch persists, send support the account names, exact dates, metric names, error text, and a cropped comparison. Remove private identifiers and avoid sharing credentials or full client reports unless needed.
